Rooted in Purpose: How the Treenity Project Brought the SuperHeart Mission to Life

Published: October 25, 2025

When we say SuperStaff serves with heart, it’s not just a tagline, it’s a commitment. And on October 17, 2025, that commitment took root, quite literally, at La Mesa Nature Reserve during our Treenity project under the SuperHeart Initiative.

What “Treenity” Really Means

The word Treenity comes from the combination of “tree” and “trinity,” symbolizing the harmony between People, Planet, and Purpose. It represents our belief that sustainability begins when individuals unite for a shared cause, one that benefits not just us, but generations to come.

The project’s goal was simple yet powerful: nurture native trees, restore biodiversity, and create awareness about the importance of reforestation in protecting Metro Manila’s last remaining forest and water source.

But as many of us learned that day, it became more than an environmental mission; it became a human one.

Serving With Heart in Action

When the buses pulled up to the La Mesa Eco Park, the excitement was contagious. Volunteers from every department—Marketing, HR, Finance, IT, Operations, and Legal—stepped out in their SuperHeart shirts, ready to plant hope into the soil.

“It’s my first time planting a tree,” one participant shared. “I didn’t expect it to be this fulfilling. It felt like I was doing something that truly mattered.”

Before the actual tree planting, we joined a biodiversity lecture led by environmental experts, where we learned how the La Mesa Watershed filters rainwater and supplies clean water to millions of residents in Metro Manila. We also learned that each tree planted contributes to reducing air pollution and preventing floods—issues that directly affect our everyday lives.

“Hearing how much impact one tree can make gave me goosebumps,” said Daniella Fernandez, Employee Relations Associate Manager. “It reminded me that small, consistent actions are what truly make a difference.”

Purpose in Every Seed

The Treenity Project isn’t just about planting trees—it’s about growing our collective sense of responsibility.

As part of the Climate Change and Environment Chamber under SuperHeart, this initiative aligns with three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that SuperStaff actively supports:

  • SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
By helping restore the La Mesa Watershed, we help secure clean, reliable water for millions of Filipinos.
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Urban forests like La Mesa are key to building resilient and livable cities.
  • SDG 13: Climate Action
Every tree planted absorbs carbon dioxide, helping reduce the effects of global warming.

Each shovel of soil, each seedling planted, and each laugh shared reflected these goals in action.

“Sustainability is not just for big corporations—it starts with people,” shared Tine Barcelona, Finance and Accounting Manager. “When you see your coworkers working together in the mud, smiling and sweating for the same purpose, it hits you. This is what unity looks like.”

From Soil to Team Spirit

The event started early, with everyone assembling at the Makati site before sunrise. The bus ride to Quezon City buzzed with excitement, snacks, and playlists that kept energy levels high. Once we arrived, the forest greeted us with calm—the kind of stillness that humbles you.

After a quick prayer and a trivia game that tested our knowledge of Philippine biodiversity, we began planting. Groups spread out across designated areas, each team assigned their batch of seedlings. The laughter, teamwork, and camaraderie made the morning fly by.

“We’re not just coworkers today—we’re teammates for the planet,” said Billy Samonte, IT Infrastructure and Security Manager, while patting soil around his seedling.
“Planting trees together reminded me that small actions can grow into something big,” added Elijah Flores, Executive Assistant to the CEO.

By noon, the once-bare patches of land were dotted with green—each seedling representing a promise. The volunteers posed proudly beside their work, covered in dirt but smiling from ear to ear.

A Fun and Meaningful Day

The Treenity Project was more than just work; it was a day filled with fun, learning, and connection.

We learned trivia about native tree species, took team selfies under the canopy, and even exchanged friendly jokes about who had the “best-planted tree.” Some of us quietly reflected while planting; others sang while digging. Everyone found their rhythm.

Lunch was served picnic-style, surrounded by nature. The conversations drifted from daily work updates to personal reflections on sustainability, family, and the future we want to build.

“This kind of activity shows how much SuperStaff values its people,” said Keiji Makita, Marketing Director. “It reminds us that our roles go beyond office walls—we’re part of something bigger.”

For many, the highlight wasn’t just the planting itself, but the shared experience of being part of a movement that connects company values to real-world impact.

Rooted in the SuperHeart Mission

SuperHeart, our CSR framework, is all about turning compassion into action. It’s built on five chambers—Wellness & Health, Knowledge & Education, Diversity & Inclusion, Humanitarian & Social Impact, and Climate Change & Environment—each one dedicated to uplifting lives through purposeful initiatives.

The Treenity Project stands as a shining example of how SuperHeart comes alive. It demonstrates that when people are given the chance to contribute meaningfully, they respond with heart, creativity, and unity.

“Treenity tells our story of impact,” said Matt Narciso, CEO of SuperStaff. “Our people don’t just work for growth—they work for purpose. This project embodies that spirit perfectly.”

By embedding sustainability into our culture, SuperStaff not only contributes to global goals but also nurtures personal growth among its employees. Everyone who joined the project came home with muddy shoes, tired arms, and hearts full of pride.

What We Take Home

As the sun began to set over the trees we had planted, the team gathered for one last group photo. Behind us were rows of young seedlings, reaching up to the light—silent reminders of the morning’s work and the impact yet to come.

“Knowing this tree will grow long after today makes me hopeful,” one volunteer reflected. “It’s like we’ve left something behind that matters.”

That day at La Mesa was more than a CSR event. It was a moment of connection—to nature, to one another, and to the values that define SuperStaff. It reminded us that serving with heart means giving back, working together, and building something that lasts.

The Treenity Project may have ended that afternoon, but its impact is still growing—rooted deep in the soil, and even deeper in our hearts.
