SuperStaff Launches “Treenity”: A Tree Nurturing and Reforestation Initiative at La Mesa Nature Reserve

Published: October 25, 2025

Makati City, Philippines – October 23, 2025 — SuperStaff, a people-centered global BPO company, has taken another bold step toward sustainability and purpose-driven action with the launch of Treenity, a large-scale tree planting and reforestation project held at the La Mesa Nature Reserve, on October 17, 2025.

This initiative, under the company’s SuperHeart program, aims to unite employees around a shared environmental mission that restores ecosystems, strengthens communities, and reinforces the company’s long-standing commitment to responsible growth.

“Treenity” combines the words Tree and Trinity, representing the powerful unity between People, Planet, and Purpose: the guiding pillars of SuperStaff’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) philosophy.

Rooted in People and Purpose

The La Mesa Nature Reserve, the only remaining forest and watershed in Metro Manila, serves as the lungs and lifeblood of the region. It provides clean water for millions of residents and absorbs carbon emissions from Metro Manila. Yet, this natural sanctuary continues to face pressures from pollution, flooding, and deforestation.

Recognizing its vital role, SuperStaff’s Treenity Project brought together more than 30 volunteers from across its Philippine operations to plant, nurture, and care for 150 seedlings. The program also included a biodiversity lecture, site clean-up, and interactive trivia challenges, blending education, action, and teamwork into a single, purpose-filled day.

“Treenity reflects SuperStaff’s lasting commitment to a greener, more responsible future,” said Matt Narciso, CEO of SuperStaff. “When our people plant trees, they’re also planting hope for the planet and for the generations that will come after us.”

The event was organized under the Climate Change and Environment Chamber of SuperHeart, one of the five key pillars of SuperStaff’s CSR framework that also includes:

  • Wellness & Health
  • Knowledge & Education
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Humanitarian & Social Impact

Each chamber champions specific initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), connecting local community efforts with global sustainability priorities.

From Soil to Solution

The Treenity Project directly addresses some of Metro Manila’s most urgent environmental challenges:

  • Water scarcity, with more than 10,000 households in Manila experiencing periodic shortages.
  • Flood vulnerability, as 80% of residents live in flood-prone zones exacerbated by deforestation and poor watershed management.
  • Air pollution, with the Philippines ranked 74th out of 138 countries in IQAir’s 2024 global report, recording air pollution levels nearly three times the WHO’s safe limit.

Through its reforestation and awareness efforts, Treenity contributes to three of the United Nations’ key Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG 13: Climate Action

Treenity aims to restore native trees, improve soil quality, and reestablish biodiversity. The initiative includes a five-year monitoring plan that tracks ecological progress, supported by a reporting framework that measures reforestation outcomes and aligns with ESG standards.

“Systems built for sustainability; operations rooted in responsibility,” said Bern Vergara, SuperStaff Senior Trainer. “This project reminds us that small, consistent actions can lead to lasting systemic change.”

Investing in Growth That Matters

For SuperStaff, sustainability is not just philanthropy; it’s a strategic investment. The company views environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments as key components of its long-term growth model.

This mindset has earned SuperStaff recognition as one of the few BPO companies aligning its CSR framework with global sustainability targets. Through programs like SuperHeart, the company positions itself as a purpose-led brand, enhancing stakeholder trust, brand equity, and employee engagement.

SuperStaff’s CSR framework automatically aligns with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, boosting visibility among global partners and investors looking to support ethically driven organizations. This alignment also enhances online discoverability and reputation through SEO impact, showing how purpose and business strategy can thrive together.

The Essence Behind Treenity

The Treenity Project represents more than an environmental effort, it is a collective affirmation of SuperStaff’s culture of care, empowerment, and transformation. It’s about taking tangible steps toward restoring nature while reinforcing a sense of unity among employees.

“Treenity tells our story of impact,” shared Keiji Makita, SuperStaff Marketing Director. “Every seedling we plant is a living symbol of what we stand for as a company: hope, responsibility, and shared purpose.”

The event’s biodiversity lecture at La Mesa Nature Reserve highlighted the watershed’s vital role in maintaining water quality, mitigating climate risks, and supporting biodiversity. Experts emphasized that La Mesa’s rehabilitation is crucial for urban resilience, particularly in combating pollution and water shortages that affect millions in Metro Manila.

“Upholding values that protect our future,” said Daniella Fernandez, Employee Relations Associate Manager. “Environmental stewardship isn’t a choice, it’s a duty we carry as part of our company’s ethical foundation.”

A Bigger Commitment: Beyond the Event

The Treenity Project is part of SuperStaff’s broader five-year CSR roadmap, which integrates measurable sustainability outcomes into its corporate operations. Future phases include:

  • Tree nurturing follow-ups to ensure growth and biodiversity preservation.
  • Environmental education drives local communities.
  • Employee engagement programs focused on waste segregation, recycling, and responsible consumption.

SuperStaff’s internal Climate Change and Environment Chamber continues to drive initiatives like:

  • Earth Hour participation
  • 3Rs and Waste Segregation programs

Each activity reinforces a consistent message: that environmental accountability is everyone’s responsibility, from leadership to entry-level employees.

The Power of Purpose in Action

In a post-pandemic world, purpose has emerged as a competitive advantage. Studies show that:

  • 25% of consumers and 22% of investors apply “zero tolerance” toward companies with questionable ethical practices.
  • 77% of consumers prefer purchasing from businesses that commit to making the world a better place.
  • 73% of investors state that sustainability and social impact influence their investment decisions.
  • 92% of employees are more likely to recommend their employer if they feel connected to a strong sense of purpose.

SuperStaff believes that purpose doesn’t compete with business, it amplifies it. Environmental responsibility is not a side project but a natural extension of the company’s identity as a people-first organization.

“We’re proud to be part of a company that doesn’t just talk about values but lives them,” said one volunteer. “Planting trees reminded me that even the smallest action can grow into something big.”

Moments That Matter: A Day at La Mesa

The event began at dawn with volunteers gathering at SuperStaff’s Makati site. After registration, the group traveled to the La Mesa Nature Reserve, greeted by morning sunlight filtering through the trees, a symbolic start to a day dedicated to growth and renewal.

The program included:

  • Opening prayer and message from company leaders.
  • Interactive trivia games to raise awareness about local biodiversity.
  • Tree planting and nurturing activities, guided by DENR representatives.
  • Post-event reflection and lunch, where participants shared takeaways from their experience.

“This was my first time planting a tree, it’s fulfilling,” said another participant. “Knowing this will grow long after today makes me hopeful.”

The event concluded with a renewed sense of unity and purpose, proof that when employees come together for a shared cause, they create ripples of impact that extend far beyond the workplace.

A CSR Framework That Inspires

SuperHeart, the overarching CSR umbrella behind Treenity, represents SuperStaff’s belief that real transformation starts with empowered people. Each chamber under SuperHeart addresses a different dimension of corporate responsibility:

  • Wellness & Health: Promotes holistic well-being and access to health initiatives.
  • Knowledge & Education: Supports learning, literacy, and scholarship programs for underserved communities.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Advocates for equality and representation across all workplace levels.
  • Climate Change & Environment: Drives sustainability, reforestation, and ecological awareness.
  • Humanitarian & Social Impact: Champions volunteerism and social welfare projects for marginalized groups.

Through these pillars, SuperHeart empowers employees to be changemakers, ensuring that the company’s growth is matched by its contribution to society.
